David 'Double D' Depto vs. Konrad Rikardson
On 6 September 2008 the German Chessboxing Tournament 2008 continues at Gloria in Cologne. The top of the bill features a straight fight for the right to face the young Russian, Nikolay Sazhin, the light heavyweight world titleholder.
The evening's climax between the exceptionally gifted American David 'Double D' Depto and Konrad Rikardson from Sweden is a mouthwatering clash. In 2007 Depto lost a dramatic fight against 'Anti-Terror' Frank Stoldt for the world title who in turn lost out to Nikolay Sazhin in July 2008. Now Depto is aiming for second chance to bring the coveted belt to the US.
Awaited with baited breath is the Heavyweight European Championship elimination contest in which Andrew 'The Rock' Costello faces Wolfram von Stauffenberg.
Also coming up: The International German Championship bout in the middleweight division featuring Cologne's local hero Jan Mielke and Sebastian Bauersfeld from the Chess Boxing Club Berlin promises punchy entertainment.
